Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 4, 2026
This policy explains what information My Home collects, why, and who can see it. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information we collect
- Account: your email address and a password (stored by our login provider in protected form), and whether your account is a homeowner or contractor account.
- Homeowners: projects you create (type of work, title, description, ZIP code, budget range, timing, photos you upload) and, separately, your contact details for a project (name, phone, email, address). Property, equipment and maintenance records you save in the app.
- Contractors: your business profile (business name, trade, service ZIP codes, phone, website, description, license number, cover photo), your bids, credit balance and credit history, and your verification status.
- Messages and notifications exchanged in the app between a homeowner and the contractors who won their project.
- Phone verification: if you verify a phone number, we store that number and when it was verified.
- Technical data: basic request logs kept by our hosting provider (such as IP address and time) and a small amount of data stored in your browser (your signed-in session and preferences). We do not use advertising trackers or sell data to advertisers.
2. How we use it
To run the marketplace: create and secure accounts, show projects to matching contractors, run bidding and credits, share a winning contractor's contact details with the homeowner and the homeowner's with the winners, send in-app notifications and messages, verify licenses and phone numbers, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve the service.
3. Who can see what
- Homeowner contact details (name, phone, email, address) are shared only with the contractors who win a position on that specific project.
- A project's description, type, ZIP code and budget range are visible to matching, signed-in contractors while it is open. Your contact details are not.
- A contractor's business profile and verification badges can be seen by homeowners.
- Photos are kept in private storage and shown only to people entitled to see them.
- Other contractors cannot see who bid or what you bid. They only see the amount needed to win a position on a project.
- Property transfers: if you transfer a property, the records you choose (service history, equipment and warranties, maintenance reminders, saved contractors, and optionally prices paid) are copied to the account of the person you name, only after they accept. Photos, invoices and your personal notes are not transferred. Unaccepted transfers expire after 14 days, and the stored copy is deleted once the transfer is accepted and imported, declined, or cancelled.
- Local weather: if your property has a ZIP code, your device sends that five-digit ZIP to two free public services (zippopotam.us to find its location, open-meteo.com for the forecast) to show weather on your home page. Your name, email and address are not sent.
- Neighborhood bundles: if you tap "I'm interested" on a service, we store your ZIP, the service and the month. Neighbors and contractors only see totals per ZIP and service, never who asked.
- Storm alerts: on the Neighborhood page your device asks the National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) for active alerts at your property's approximate map point (from its ZIP code). Your name, email and street address are not sent.
- Push notifications (optional): if you turn them on, your browser gives us a private address for your device (a push subscription) so we can send alerts such as new leads, bid results and neighbor replies, and (for homeowners, unless switched off in the app) a home-care tip each morning. It is stored with your account, used only to deliver those alerts, and deleted when you turn notifications off or sign out. Alerts pass through your device maker's push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla).
- Maintenance reminders: to send reminders when the app is closed, the name, due date and reminder choice of each open maintenance task (plus the property name) is copied to our server. It is used only to send you those reminders and is removed when you complete or delete the task.
- Utility providers: if you add utility providers to a property (provider name, phone, website, last 4 digits of an account number, notes), they are stored in your account with the rest of that property’s data. We do not connect to utility accounts and ask you not to enter passwords.
4. Service providers
We use these providers to run My Home, and they process data on our behalf: Supabase (login, database, file storage), Netlify (website hosting and server functions), Twilio (sending and checking one-time verification text messages; receives the phone number being verified), and Google Places (business search; receives the search terms and city entered). When paid credits launch, a payment processor such as Stripe will handle card details; we will not store full card numbers. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect people and the service.
5. Keeping information
We keep information while your account is active and as needed for records, fraud prevention and legal reasons. You can ask us to delete your account and the personal information we hold; some records (such as a credit ledger entry or a message you shared with another user) may be kept where needed for legal, accounting or safety reasons.
6. Your choices
- Update your profile or project details in the app.
- Remove a verified phone number from your business profile.
- Ask us for a copy of your information or to delete it using the contact below.
7. Security
We use access controls so that people can see only the data they are entitled to, encrypted connections, and private file storage. No online service is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
8. Children
My Home is for adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Text messages
We send text messages to deliver a one-time verification code you request and to reply to people who text or contact us. We do not send marketing texts, and mobile information is not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help at any time. Carrier message and data rates may apply. See our Text Messaging page for details.
10. Changes
